From the carbon supplier to the logistics outsourcing partner, we have come a long way. Looking back, we always think of the people who have made KEMENA what it is today. Each of them has shaped the company in their own way.

The Early Years

1912–1959

Founding

KEMENA was founded by Hermann Kemena

3rd generation

The third generation takes over:
Ulla Kemena, together with her husband Siegmund Jording (machine builder)

Heating oil trading

Construction of fuel oil trading

1959

The 1970s and 1980s

1970–1987

Establishment of a railway company

Establishment of the Löhner railway company with the aim of compensating seasonal fluctuations in fuel sales

1970

Rental of freight station

Kemena becomes a logistics provider and rents the entire goods station in Löhne for the purpose of handling goods.

Sales expansion

Additional sales of lubricants and diesel fuel as a mobile contractor

4th generation

Fourth generation:

renamed KEMENA Mineralölhandel GmbH
renamed KEMENA Spedition Logistik GmbH

1981

Move

From 3,000 to 15,000 square meters: relocation to new company premises in Löhne Gohfeld. Construction of the first warehouse with an area of 1,000 square meters.

1986

Foundation ESJ

Founding of ESJ Einrichtungsservice GmbH with a focus on mail order logistics. Own market entry for the area of nebulous traffic (mail-order logistics, assembly, etc.)

The Modern

1996–2012

Foundation BTG

Establishment of BTG Bahnterminal Gohfeld Lagerbetriebsgesellschaft mbH as storage facility with track connection. Renewed investment in storage area with track connection: 13,000 sqm on the former station Gohfeld

Strong together

Three competitors combine their strengths: Kemena Mineralölhandelsgesellschaft, Wittemöller Energieservice GmbH and Hempelmann Mineralölgesellschaft mbH form the NEWCo Neue Energie- und WärmeConzepte GmbH and Petrocargo Mineralöllogistik GmbH

Construction of a new administrative building

Enlargement

Purchase of the former chipboard plant Homanit to expand the operating and storage area by 16,000 sqm

2005

Modern high-bay warehouse

Construction of a modern high bay warehouse with 20,000 pallet storage spaces

2008

Expansion of high-bay bearings

Expansion of the high-bay warehouse by 10,000 pallet spaces

2010

New logistics center

Opening of a new logistics center in June with railway access in Gütersloh

Today and Into the Future

2013–Present

5th generation

Timo Jording, son of Klaus and Siglinde Jording, joined the family business. His expertise in addition to business administration is company consulting and supply chain management.

2013

New high rack bearing

Demolition of the old Homanit storage halls. Construction of a high bay warehouse with approx. 20,000 spaces. Completion and commissioning in summer 2017.
