Junior Managing Director receives doctorate from the University of Bamberg

Dr Timo Jording develops „SCM Maturity Cube“ – Kemena strengthens supply chain consulting

At the beginning of the year, Timo Jording, Managing Director of Kemena GmbH, was awarded his doctorate by the University of Bamberg. The subject of his thesis was goal-based differentiation of supply chain activities, illustrated with examples from the manufacturing industry.

„Companies are constantly confronted with increasing demands on the management of their value chains,“ says Dr Jording. „Various studies on the subject of supply chain management reveal not only a lack of anchoring at management level, but also a general implementation deficit. As a result, there is a discrepancy between desire and reality.“

In his extensive work, Dr Jording categorises various maturity models, identifies deficits in detail and, based on this, developed the Ssupply Cgrove Mmanagement Mmaturity Cube. This model considers the specific framework conditions and requirements of a company's supply chain, taking into account a situation-independent prioritisation of content. Prof. Dr. Erik Sucky, who supervised the scientific work as doctoral supervisor, also sees great application potential in this model. „With the development of the SCMMC, we have succeeded in gaining a deeper understanding of all supply chain activities, from which concrete measures for the (analysed) company can then be derived.“.

The publication of this work by its youngest managing director is also a gain for Kemena GmbH. In future, companies will be able to receive even better advice on how to ensure that the manufacture and distribution of their products conserve resources as much as possible.

The entire dissertation will soon be available online as a book. For further information, please send an email to info@kemena.de.
