History
It is a long way from coal merchant to logistics outsourcing partner.
Looking back, we always think of the people who have made KEMENA what it is today. Each of them has shaped the company in their own way.
At the age of 43, Hermann Kemena takes the plunge into self-employment and founds the coal trading company KEMENA. His quote of the day: „Oh Lottchen, trading with your fingers brings more than working with your arms.“

Founding of the coal business KEMENA by Hermann Kemena.

Next generation
Handover to the next generation: Heinrich Kemena.
1954
Third generation
The third generation takes over:
Ulla Kemena, together with her husband Siegmund Jording (master mechanical engineer).
1959
Fuel oil trade
Establishment of the heating oil trade.
1970 - 1987
The 70s and 80s
1970
Founding of Löhner Bahnspedition
Establishment of Löhner Bahnspedition with the aim of balancing seasonal fluctuations in turnover in the fuel sector.
1975
Leasing of the freight station
KEMENA becomes a logistics all-rounder and rents the entire goods station in Löhne for the purpose of goods handling.
1978
Sales expansion
Additional distribution of lubricants and diesel fuel as a Mobil authorised dealer.
1981
4th generation
Entry of the fourth generation:
Klaus Jording.
Change of name to KEMENA Mineralölhandel GmbH.
Change of name to KEMENA Spedition Logistik GmbH.
1986
Relocation
From 3,000 to 15,000 square metres: Move to new premises in Löhne-Gohfeld. Construction of the first warehouse with an area of 1,000 square metres.
1987
Establishment of ESJ
Founding of ESJ Einrichtungsservice GmbH with a focus on mail order logistics. Own market presence for the new furniture transport sector (mail order logistics, assembly, etc.).

Establishment of BTG
BTG Bahnterminal Gohfeld Lagerbetriebsgesellschaft mbH is founded as a storage facility with rail connection. Further investment in storage space with rail connection: 13,000 square metres at the former Gohfeld railway station.
2001
Strong together
Three competitors combine their strengths: The companies KEMENA Mineralölhandelsgesellschaft, Wittemöller Energieservice GmbH and Hempelmann Mineralölgesellschaft mbH found NEWCo Neue Energie- und WärmeConzepte GmbH and Petrocargo Mineralöllogistik GmbH.
2003
Extension
Construction of a new administration building.
2005
Magnification
Purchase of the former Homanit chipboard factory to further expand the operating and storage area by 16,000 square metres.
2008
Modern high-bay warehouse
Construction of a modern high-bay warehouse with 20,000 pallet spaces.
2010
Expansion of high-bay warehouse
Expansion of the high-bay warehouse by 10,000 pallet bays.
2011
New logistics center
Opening of a new logistics center with a railway siding in Gütersloh in June.

5th generation
Timo Jording, son of Klaus and Siglinde Jording, joins the family business. In addition to business administration, he specializes in management consultancy and supply chain management.
2017
New high-bay warehouse
Demolition of the old Homanit halls. Construction of a new high-bay warehouse with approx. 20,000 storage spaces. Completion and commissioning in summer 2017.
2018
Junior Managing Director Timo Jording receives doctorate from University of Bamberg
The subject of his disputation was a target-based differentiation of supply chain activities, illustrated using examples from the manufacturing industry.
2019
Expansion of the warehouses
20,000 square metres of warehouse with railway siding are extended by 5,000 square metres.
2020
Site expansion
Alfred-Nobel-Straße with its own rail terminal on intra-European block train lines and large sea terminals.
2023
Construction of photovoltaic system
Construction of one of the largest photovoltaic systems in OWL with around 2,500 PV modules.
2024
Site expansion
New location „Im Rüsken“: Property with storage area. Currently still being remodelled.
ANS site expansion on Alfred-Nobel-Straße. Total area 155,000 square metres, planned logistics park project for modern and future-oriented logistics and commerce, completely CO₂-neutral construction.
