As part of our annual meeting at our customer Julius Blum in Austria, we had the opportunity to present and test an innovative e-trailer from Trailer Dynamics.
Blum is an internationally active family business based in Austria and manufactures furniture fittings. These include hinge, flap, pull-out and pocket systems. Blum supplies customers in over 120 markets and has numerous production sites in Europe, the USA, Brazil and China as well as a global network of subsidiaries.
The e-trailer transported a full load of pull-outs from Höchst to our main site in Löhne. A distance of an impressive 660 kilometres. What made this transport particularly remarkable was the saving of 56 % of diesel fuel compared to conventional transport methods. This shows the potential of e-trailer technology and electromobility in freight transport and how we can make an important contribution to reducing CO₂ emissions by using e-trailers.
The next joint project envisages coupling the Trailer Dynamics e-trailer with one of our e-trucks in future. Together, they will travel the route from Löhne to Höchst and back using only electricity from our own PV systems. With this step, we want to prove that zero-carbon logistics is not only possible in local transport, but also by increasing the range of the e-trailers on long-distance technology.
We are proud to be setting another milestone towards an emission-free future in freight transport with Blum and our partners at Trailer Dynamics. It shows that sustainable logistics solutions are not only environmentally friendly, but also make economic sense.
